Shame on Obama
Have you ever heard of David Plouffe? Some might remember him for managing one of the greatest presidential campaigns ever which helped elect the first African American President. Others might know him for his passion of beer pong while attending University of Delaware.
Some columnist have expressed that Plouffe has damaged his professional credibility after recently blabbing to Esquire about his days of beer pong in college. As if playing beer pong in college is the equivalent to snorting cocaine off hookers backs. Which lets be honest, we’ve all done at one time or another. The general public just has such a negative perception of beer pong and the people who play it.
The average misconception is beer pong is played by mindless morons who destroy more brain cells then they have to spare. Many may think the 2009 WSOBP Champion, Ron Hamilton, seen pacing back and forth behind a bpong table at the World Series looked more like Blanka from Street Fighter II then an athlete. But none the less, Hamilton does deserve respect in the beer pong world.
Jim Rome of ESPN Radio trashed beer pong and the people who play it after dedicating a portion of his show to questioning beer pong as a sport. Rom Hamilton came up again when Rome quoted Hamilton saying he downed an entire bottle of Jack Daniels before the finals. Funny thing, a few weeks later Rome’s colleague, Rick Rielly, had an article featured on the front page of ESPN.com titled, The Next Great American Pastime: Beer Pong.
As the game or sport of beer pong continues to grow in popularity I believe it will become more widely accepted by the general public. Especially with more and more celebrities admitting to playing. Politicians have enough to worry about with embezzlement, prostitution, DUI’s, fraud and drugs then having to worry about beer pong coming back to haunt them.
